We sorted through 7 million meters of film from 440 archives worldwide, and reviewed 6,000 newspapers in 36 countries, as well as 60 editors, cameramen, assistants, and researchers who worked on the series for three years.
There are 600 witnesses on various occasions, including the last scenes of the tragic Titanic sinking, Lenin, Al Capone's nephew, Chaplin's and Mussolini's sons, a nurse from Bern-Herborn, Hitler's secretary, the survivors of Aschwitz, the Nagasaki navigator, the Everest summit heroes, Apollo 11 astronauts, Edward Taylor, Shimon Peres, Helmut Kohl, Ali Baba, Lech Walesa, Otto Haasburg, George Bush, and Mikhail Gorbachev.
It shows us in chronological order what, how, and why events took place in different places.
